Is My Hero Academia on Netflix?

My Hero Academia (affectionately known by fans as MHA) is one of the most popular and critically acclaimed anime TV series of all time. MHA is a show with a wide audience, both in Japan and around the world, and premiered its sixth season in October 2022.

What is My Hero Academia?

My Hero Academia (or Boku no Hīrō Akademia) is a superhero-themed Japanese manga and anime series written by Kohei Horikoshi and published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since 2014. The story follows Izuku Midoriya, a boy born without superpowers in a world where they are commonplace. After meeting his idol All Might, he discovers that he too can become a hero with hard work, courage, and determination.

The series has been praised for its writing and animation, as well as its themes of heroism and friendship. In addition to six successful seasons of the show, there have also been two films released in Japan (and one set for release later this year).

Is My Hero Academia on Netflix?

Unfortunately, My Hero Academa is not currently available to stream on Netflix in North America, though it is available on some select Netflix platforms globally such as India, Japan and Hong Kong. It is also worth noting that the English dubbed versions are not available on these Netflix geos, so you would need to be content to watch MHA in Japanese with English subtitles.

For those that have a Hulu subscription, you can find MHA streaming on their platform. Hulu has a free trial and paid subscription plans starting at $7.99 USD per month.

A MHA movie coming to Netflix

In one way, My Hero Academia will soon be on Netflix. Netflix has announced that they are producing a live-action movie of the show.

The movie will be in English (director Shinsuke Sato’s English-language debut) and the screenplay will be written by Joby Harold.

There is no word on casting nor a date for the film to be released.

Streaming MHA with a VPN

If you’re not able to access MHA on Netflix in your region and you’re looking for an alternative way to watch the show online then there is the possibility to use a VPN.

A VPN will allow you to connect to a server in Japan for instance (where Netflix carries My Hero Academia) so that you can access the show and bypass any regional restrictions put in place by Netflix.

Do be aware that while using a VPN can help you access content from other countries it doesn’t guarantee that every service will be available; some streaming services may still block access even when using a VPN due to their own regional restrictions or licensing agreements. So far we’ve found NordVPN to be a reliable provider which is able to get around most of the geo-blocks that the streaming services use.

Finding a way to stream MHA on Netflix

Although My Hero Academia isn’t currently available on Netflix worldwide there are still plenty of ways to watch it online – from local streaming services Hulu to using a VPN for accessing blocked content from overseas sources. No matter which method you choose, make sure that you’re always aware of any regional restrictions which may apply before watching anything online – whether it’s anime or any other type of content.
