What is Jujutsu Kaisen?
Jujutsu Kaisen is a supernatural shonen (action/adventure) manga series created by Gege Akutami which was first published in March 2018 in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Later that same year, it was adapted into an anime television show. In the story, Yuji Itadori is a high school student who discovers he has the ability to exorcize curses after inadvertently eating one of them. He joins the Tokyo-based occult research society known as “Jujustsu Club” in order to battle against evil curses that threaten humanity.
The series has become massively popular since its release, becoming one of the most talked-about shows in Japan and among fans worldwide. It has received critical acclaim for its art style and story development, as well as praise for its characters’ interactions with each other. The first season ended with a cliffhanger ending that left fans wanting more; luckily for them, a second season was announced shortly afterwards and a March 2023 date has now been confirmed for it’s release. It was also confirmed that animation studio MAPPA, the studio behind the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen, will be returning to create the next instalment.
